Kizzy Crawford

 

A Welsh speaker with Bajan heritage, seventeen year old Kizzy Crawford's solo career began just two years ago. In that time, Kizzy has developed an increasing sophistication to her songwriting and performance, this is complimented by her soaring voice that boasts both range and charisma.

 

Her ambition as a black Welsh artist is to make her mark by fusing bilingual soul/jazz and she's already getting recognition for her work with her music regularly being played on BBC Radio Wales, Radio Cymru as well as live performances on S4C. Kizzy won the Brwydr Y Bandiau at the National Eisteddfod 2013, securing her a coveted slot on Maes B and prize money. She also won the Merthyr & RCT Singer-Songwriter competition receiving money to record with Amy Wadge (signed to BDI Music and Ed Sheeran/Lewis Watson co-writer)

 

.Kizzy recently played at the National Assembly for Wales during WOMEX, London Jazz Festival supporting Sarah Gillespie, Swn Festival, the Plaid Cymru Conference and supported Newton Faulkner on the Welsh dates of his tour.

 

Live appearances also include BBC1’s Children In Need and features in the BBC 6 Nations promotional adverts.Taken from her debut EP 'Temporary Zone', the single 'The Starling' gained Kizzy her first BBC 6Music AirPlay as well as 'Single & Artist of the Week' on BBC Radio Wales.
